Welcome to our FAQ page. We know that undertaking a home remodel is a major investment and can feel overwhelming. Below, we have answered the most common questions our clients ask about the design-build process, budgeting, timelines, and working with our team.
General Information
What is a "Design-Build" remodeling contractor, and how is it different from a general contractor?
A design-build firm provides a one-stop experience. Instead of hiring an architect to design, then bidding it out to contractors, our in-house team handles both the design and the construction. This means better communication, a single point of responsibility, faster project completion, and a smoother process.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we are licensed, insured in the state of Colorado. We can provide proof of insurance upon request.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. As part of our design-build service, we manage all required building permits and coordinate with local building departments for necessary inspections.
Is the project customizable?
Yes, Perfect R&R uses many tools to make sure the vision you have in mind is the final product you recive, including LiDAR scanning, 3-D rendering, Floor Plans and final matirial selection boards. We make 2-3 renderings based on desires discussed in initial consultation. Once one of the renderings are selected, we offer revisions on the selected option to iron out the details.
Process & Timeline
What does your typical remodeling process look like?
Our process includes five main phases: Initial consultation, feasibility study/design, selection of materials, construction, and final walkthrough. We focus on thorough pre-construction planning to prevent delays and hidden costs later.
How long will my remodel take?
Timelines vary based on the size and complexity of the project. A bathroom remodel may take a few weeks, while a major addition or whole-home renovation can take several months. We provide a detailed project schedule before construction begins, and do our best to avoid any delays in logistics and inspections.
Do I need to move out during the remodel?
For most kitchen, bathroom, and basement projects, you can stay in your home. However, it will be inconvenient. For larger whole-home remodels, moving out for a portion of the project is often recommended for comfort and safety.
How do you protect my home from dust and damage?
We use specialized dust barriers, protective floor coverings, and daily cleaning protocols to minimize disruptions to your living space.
Cost & Budgeting
How much will my project cost?
The cost of home renovations depends on the size of the project, the complexity of the design, and the materials selected. During our first meeting, we will discuss your budget to ensure the design aligns with your financial goals.
Do you provide fixed-price contracts?
Yes, we provide detailed, fixed-price proposals for our projects. This ensures you know the total cost before construction begins, rather than dealing with "time and materials" guesswork.
What happens if I want to make a change during construction?
We try to finalize all decisions before work starts to avoid changes. However, if a change is needed, we use a formal "Change Order" process. This clearly outlines any adjustments to cost and timeline for your approval before work proceeds.
Design & Materials
Do I need to hire an architect?
No. A major benefit of working with us is that we have in-house designers who produce the plans, structural drawings, and 3D renderings, ensuring the design is buildable and cost-effective.
Can I supply my own materials?
While we prefer to source materials to ensure quality, proper scheduling, and warranty coverage, we are open to discussing this, especially if you have a specific vendor in mind. Keep in mind if clients source materials we do require that all materials are checked by us. We will make sure nothing is missing before we start installation.
After The Project
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Yes, we stand by our work. We offer a 1-year warranty on labor and materials from the date of substantial completion. Many materials will also include manufacturers warranty as well.
